What a fantastic last concert this was, under the baton of MD Paul Smith. The choir were delighted to be joined by The Selion Swing Band for this, their Christmas concert of 2024.
It was a different style of concert with an eclectic mix of music. Paul chose his favourite choir songs and these were enjoyed alongside new and old Christmas favourites, and swing numbers from The Selion Swing Band.
The choir delighted the audience with songs such as 'Anthem' from Chess, 'Bring Him Home' from Les Miserables and 'Can You Fell The Love Tonight' from The Lion King. Christmas numbers were also enjoyed, and this year, the new numbers were 'Carol Of The Star' and 'All On A Silent Night'. The audience participated in some carols as well and made a fine sound. Don't forget gentlemen, there are always places in the choir for you!
The Selion Swing Band played numbers such as 'Woodchopper's Ball', 'The Candy Man', 'Night Train' and 'Jumpin' At The Woodside'. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the offerings of the band.
Many thanks to our friends and supporters for joining us at this concert - it is always a delight to perform to an appreciative audience. Thanks as well to the front of house staff who checked tickets, gave out programmes and made sure our audience were fed and watered during the interval.
Don't forget to look out for events happening in 2025 - our 75th anniversary year. This starts with a Grand Charity Concert at Chelmsford Cathedral on 26th April 2025. Tickets will be available shortly, but please put the date in your diaries.
CMVC would also like to thank Paul for all his hard work over the last couple of years. The choir has progressed so much under his leadership and have enjoyed the challenges put to them.
